C

C is one of the older languages in computer history as it was developed in the 1970s as a modified and cut-down version of B. Its primary purpose was for constructing utilities on Unix. Today, however, C is one of the most widely used languages for system-level programming across all computers and devices. C compilers are available on practically any system architecture and its capabilities are extensive when low-level access to memory is imperative.
